A Thankful feast Is when family examines Without verdicts Fears an past hate Dinner is their struggle To overlook dark void Were precious tree ornaments Comfortable candles throughout Enlighten a perfect union Around hopes To A Thankful feast

Hi Arty my friend.
I believe you have hit the whole idea behind Thanksgiving right on the head. For many families, the Holidays are the only time all year long everyone is in the same house and for at least one day, everyone tries to get along and forget past differences.
Enjoyed your read, I have gotten the feeling over the years I've known you here at TPS that you value your family highly.
take care,
~ Daniel

Loved the Drop and your use of words to, like Sir Daniel said, to perfectly describe the Thanksgiving feast. Well done in my books.

I think this is an excellent drops poem, arty, dear. It speaks volumes to the reader about the importance of family, not just during Thanksgiving, but each and every day that we're blessed with together throughout the year. So often, there is so much hype and sensationalism put on the Holidays that we often forget the true meaning of that particular Holiday at hand, and that is truly saddening and heart breaking to me. On a more personal note, reading your poem reminded me of a situation that we just endured together as a family. Let me share, if you don't mind. My mother-in-law just recently got married. The man she married has one daughter who is in her late twenties/early thirties. We just recently learned that my new father-in-law lost his wife, his 5 year old daughter, his father, and basically his entire family in a car wreck almost 30 years ago. He would have lost his present daughter as well, if the good Lord hadn't blessed her with being thrown from the car in her car seat. As a result, they have only had each other. Yesterday, we got the pleasant experience of being a new family, and by sharing with him and his daughter, it really touched my entire family in such a blessed way. Her two little boys now call us "Aunt and Uncle" and it's just such a beautiful thing. That is one of the great blessings that I have been gifted with by God, and reading your poem really took me back to yesterday and showed me just how blessed I truly am, on so many levels. Thank you for listening to me rant, and thank you for sharing with us all such a lovely, beautiful, and heartfelt drops poem. Exalt! Exalt! Exalt! Love in Christ, Stacy

Nicely done. I also think you showed the true meaning of Thanksgiving and beyond. We do need to learn go passed our differences and try not to put each other down in the wrong way. Speak from our heart and to love our family. Learn to love everybody also; like Lord Jesus Christ showed loved each one of us.Love goes a long way, I'm not just speak to everybody, I'm also speak to myself. 'Cause I want to love like Christ loved us.

Hi, I liked this poem and the way it depicted the holiday time as most of us know it - something to be got through and hopefully survived intact, as a family. Well done!
