much inspired by Preludes by TS Eliot
Vanilla Street
World in motion, I inhaled ashes and espresso, Scratch it, breathe in, no poet's joy is it. Free to write, and rhyming cry "Alas!" For Vanilla Street, That the poet would waste a letter on it. Season laid bare to a cemetery city on Chalk and foam diet, and a hollow moment Of the normal battle laid naked on marble But nothing new...

Wow - love the imagery. Not what I would have expected from something with 'vanilla' in the title, but that's what I like about poetry; expect the unexpected.

Interesting imagery, Arinna. I get the image of a poet wandering down streets of cafes, trying to conjur up a masterpiece in a city where no one cares. Nice job.
